What keeps us busy
Floriculture
Urban Harvest is primarily into growing Dutch Roses in hi tech poly houses since its inception. Currently Urban Harvest does Dutch Rose cultivation in 4 acres of Poly house. Dutch rose cultivation is a very niche segment. It’s highly capital intensive and it is quite labor intensive as well. But on the sunny side, there is consistent demand and a rose stem can fetch you upwards of Rs5 which can go up to Rs20 during the peak season in the domestic market.
Assisted Farming
Urban Harvest started two different ventures within close circle of friends and relatives who were interested in agriculture. In the first project, we assisted folks in acquiring land and setting up the greenhouses. As part of the second project we helped set up Orchards on leased lands. All these projects are run by Urban Harvest on profit sharing basis.
Agri Tourism
There is a compelling need for the harried and stressed out city dweller to get away from the rigors of traffic, noise and air pollution. Urban Harvest Tourism aims to provide this escape chute to the lap of nature where guests can unwind for a day or couple of days in serene surroundings, breathe in the fresh unpolluted air and indulge in fun activities in the open. Cottages, platforms, tents, farming, vegetable picking, camping, biking and much more in store.
Organic Cultivation and Veggies at doorstep
Over the past 3 years, Urban Harvest gained expertise in organic vegetable cultivation. We reverted to our age old systems of cultivation which is simpler and healthier than chemical farming. We replaced pesticides & chemicals with some natural concoctions like neem oil, pungam oil, agnishastra, 3g solution, panchagavya, vermiwash, vermicomposting, farm yard manure, panchagavya, jeevamrita etc. We also ran our own online retail venture as www.farmbox.in. As a pilot for 6 months, the online retailing was done in 4 apartments/layouts through farmbox.in. Customers were supplied with fresh organic vegetables at doorstep weekly.
